This is the second time that I’ve seen Nicholas for a special-just-for-him-photo-session. It’s pretty rare that I get inquiries from mom’s who just want to do photos of their kiddos so I really savored all the fun that came with following Nicholas around his backyard. He was super proud to show off all his hard work in their garden and where he plays on a regular basis. Keeping kiddos in their domain really helps them feel at ease and gets them excited about showing me all of the things they would normally be doing if I weren’t there-which is my favorite way to photograph children.

It was such an honor to do this families photos. Doug was my high school photography teacher and really encouraged me to pursue photography. Through his vote of confidence along with advice about business, I started on my photo journey. I’m grateful that I was able to do one small thing as a thank you for him.

I loved that mom and dad wanted to have a few photos taken on the bench that where they first met during college. Bringing in personal touches to your session is a wonderful way to make it unique to you. Also, check out the fabulous wardrobe selections Rachael made, I love seeing a variety of patterns mixed together so seamlessly. It’s so much more visually interesting that flat blocks of color.

This sweet family of redheads was so wonderful to come out and meet me despite the smoke filled Wenatchee valley we were shooting their photos in. I don’t make it out to Wenatchee very often so a rescheduling was not much of an option. But they were troopers and we made sure to be efficient. Last year when I saw these guys for their fall family photos they were a family of 5…now they’re a family of six and I was pretty smitten with the new handsome addition.

This fun loving family kept me entertained for the evening with all their playful teasing and goofy poses haha. I love getting to work with clients who know how to let loose and enjoy themselves during photos. I am not a fan of the stiff, completely posed, cheesey smile photo sessions I grew up participating in. Since mom and dad met at wazzu and stuck around Pullman after they graduated it seemed fitting to take their photos up on campus.
