Q-Do you have a studio?
A-No, I am an on-location natural light photographer. My only indoor shoots are for newborns and may be done in my home or yours.
Q-Can we include our dogs in our photos?
A-Of course! But please tell me beforehand rather than showing up with them so that I can plan the location accordingly.
Q-What are your prices?
A-The price is two-fold. Session fees are paid prior to sessions and cover my time shooting, traveling and editing only. You will then have an online gallery to order your prints, digital files and products through. Each session comes with a minimum purchase requirement. This may be fulfilled a la carte (buying items individually) or by package or a combination of both. Please visit my website for a complete list of session fees and product prices.
Q-Are individuals of my kids included in a family session?
A-Yes, individual poses and a variety of groupings are all included.
Q-Do you always offer mini sessions?
A-Mini sessions are not offered on a regular basis, they will be advertised in advance and are only available on the listed date. (Please see the Specials tab for more details)
Q-How soon do I get my images after the session?
A-For all portrait sessions, images will be meticulously edited for 3-4 weeks before your online gallery will be loaded. I will however provide Facebook sneak peeks to satisfy you
Q-Do you have regular locations that you shoot at?
A-Yes, I have plenty of location options up my sleeve and if you tell me what sort of setting you’re envisioning, I will do my best to dig one up! If you don’t have any preference, I have no problem deciding for us. And if you have a location in mind or if you own a piece of property you’d like to use, I am always excited for something new!
Q-How far in advance should I book my session?
A-It’s always best to book early, I book dates 3 months in advance and your chances of getting the month you want is greater the earlier you contact me. However, don’t hesitate to check if I have any last minute openings, there’s always a chance. For newborn photos, please contact me during your pregnancy with your due date to provide me a rough estimate of when your session will need to be.
Q-Where are you located?
A-I am located in Pullman. I shoot here on weekdays and the occasional weekend, and am in Spokane most weekends. I make periodic visits to Wenatchee and can travel anywhere for weddings.
Q-What should we wear?
A-Seniors should plan on multiple wardrobes: something casual and something dressy, as well as any athletic or costume attire desired. Maternity wardrobes should consist of a simple white tee or tank and jeans as well as a dress that allows for hugging of your bundle. For families please follow this link and read the album description along with viewing the photos.
Q-Are family photos included in your newborn package?
A-Yes! I encourage photos of baby and mom and baby and dad. These can be some of the most touching and emotional images. I am also on board with siblings included in some images. I do however request that I know ahead of time if you would like sibling photos and also request that we take care of sibling shots at the start so that they may then be excused considering that newborn sessions can last 2-3 hours and no child wants to be sitting around that long. But the bulk of the session is dedicated to baby, plan on only a handful of family-oriented pictures.
Q-What do I need to do to prepare for a newborn session?
A-Plan on a full tummy and an empty diaper right before the time of the session. Please undress baby to their diaper loosely fastened to avoid markings and wrap them in a blanket. This will make the transition to nakedness much easier on baby. If we are shooting at your home please turn up your heat to keep baby comfortable, I will additionally bring a space heater to direct at baby. Have plenty of spare diapers, wipes, full bottles, and binkies on hand. Dress comfortably in order to be able to assist me since multiple hands will be necessary. Plan on me feng shui-ing your home
with my assortment of sets and props. If you have any props or items that you would like to use collect them and please inform me beforehand.
Q-Can I repost your photos on Facebook?
A-Yes! I am flattered when I see that my clients love my work enough to repost it. But my feelings are hurt when my client doesn’t think highly enough of me to give me credit under my work and then also change the composition of the image by cropping it. I simply ask that you post www.calijenaephotography.com under the image and don’t crop it. Not cropping is for two reasons: firstly, I don’t want my watermark removed and secondly, I put a lot of effort into the perfect composition, once you change that, the image may as well not even be mine. When you get your disc feel free to post them online, but again give me credit and do not alter the images in anyway.
