Newborn sessions are my absolute favorite. These new, fragile people are so pure, fresh and invigorating to be around. And the sheer pride and joy emanating from mom and dad is contagious. They are also my favorites because I am capturing the most fleeting days of a lifetime and those are memories that the families I work with cherish. I love receiving notes from moms telling me how grateful they are that they made the effort to have those photos done with me because of how much their baby has changed since those first few days of life.

Newborn photos are taken during the first few weeks after birth. Anything past 30 days is no longer considered “newborn” in the photography world as the baby has lost their moldability and are not sleeping as hard as they did when they were fresh. Each newborn photographer prefers a different window of time. I prefer 7 days old to 14 days old. Moms and dads have had a week to adjust but baby still has the desired newborn qualities.

To book a session I suggest you contact me as early in the pregnancy as possible. I typically have newborns on the books up to 6 or 7 months in advance. The way it works is, you give me your due date and make your session fee payment. You are then on my books and guaranteed a spot for your session no matter if your bundle decides to arrive early or late. I will mail you a welcome packet with all kinds of information for you to prepare for your session such as what to wear, how to get baby ready and the sort of space I will need. After you deliver, you will then contact me with the happy news which I will be anxiously awaiting. Then we will discuss a date and time of day that works for the both of us and falls within my desired age window. I will come to your home with all my goodies and spend a few hours with you and your little one.

IF you didn’t get the opportunity to plan ahead and book your newborn during your pregnancy but your baby is here and you would like a newborn session, don’t hesitate to contact me. I can frequently make room for last minute mamas. But don’t risk it if you can help it, I hate turning hopeful parents away.
